Steel is the backbone of parent company, the Tianjian Group, as well as its international arm, Tianjian Asia Industries. Fabricated steel is designed and constructed to client specifications and delivered around the world for various uses in construction, manufacturing, and ship building.
In addition to its extensive fabricated steel portfolio, in 1997 the company bought the existing Guangdong Jiangmen Ship Factory Co. Ltd to concentrate its efforts in building both commercial steel ships and more recently, complex steel fabrication for various industries including transportation, electricity, civil and general construction and mining. The factory has designed over 40 varieties of coasting vessels and built over 500 ships. Since 1980, the company has exported more than 140 ships worldwide. It is now fully equipped and producing of world class welding and fabrication for small to large scale general steel projects.
The plant has the capacity to undertake design and construction projects up to a maximum length of 94.5m and/or 6000 tons. With advanced processing technologies, the company also specialises in:
- subsection shipbuilding and steel manufacturing
- sports facilities
- integrated lofting
- hydraulic pressure facilities
- wide-span steel structure processing
- general production and installation
Located at Jiangmen – a major city and thoroughfare in the Pearl River Delta region and adjacent to Hong Kong – the Guangdong Jiangmen Ship Factory Co. Ltd has convenient land and water access and other transport facilities networked close by.
With an area mass of 180,000sqm, the factory has over 600 processing machines for production, manufacturing and installation of various steel structure projects and auxiliary ship processing and building projects.
The plant has been refurbished at a cost of USD$22 million and has a registered capital USD$50 million in onsite equipment. The factory has a staff of more than 500 of which in excess of 150 are technical officers and engineers.
Due to the high demand for complex high-end steel fabrication projects, the original factory has evolved to include extensive, quality weldment projects. Recent projects include:
- transformer units
- drilling equipment
- bridges in Hong Kong
- roller coaster and associated theme park facilities
- heavy load transportation rigs
- cranes
- oil tanks (and oil-water pipes)
- electrical substation and transformer plants
- other tubular steel projects
The company has an outstanding design unit qualification certificate from Guangdong’s Communications Department.
State-of-the-art facilities:
As part of its commitment to excellence, the company recently established a state-of-the-art computer fabrication centre to manage all aspects of technical design and production management.
The existing facilities and equipment in the company include:
- one 120×60m processing and assembling plant (indoor)
- one new steel plate pretreatment production line
- one steel structure production assembling line
- four outdoor gantry cranes and another 30-plus indoor cranes
- over 600 pieces of processing equipment (e.g., 650 model large lathe, 20 modulus hobbing machine, steel plate edge milling machine, hydraulic press, high frequency pipe bender, H-type steel flange leveling machine including crack detection equipment)
The factory boasts an annual throughput of over 80,000 tons of ships and 25,000 tons of other separate steel structure projects.
